The Science College owns more than 70 staff members at present, of whom there are over 30 professors/deputy professors, 8 members with doctor degrees or studying for doctor degrees, and 26 members with master degrees or studying for master degrees, forming a teaching group with a reasonable structure and relatively high academic levels. While doing the work in teaching well, its teachers actively carried on its scientific research and the popularization and application of science and technology achievements, being in charge of or participating in more than 40 items of scientific research tasks, directing or participating in the compilation of over 30 textbooks and monographs, and publishing over 400 academic theses. Its content involves such aspects as applied mathematics, electronic technology, computer science and technology, information management and information system, 3S technologies, etc, fostering fairly dense academic atmosphere.
   For the moment, the college owns such four teaching and research sections as for environmental space information technology, etc, 3S technology and CAD centers, and the two institutes for applied chemistry and space information technology. Insisting on its policy of “ Running an unique college”, the college is largely engaged in the training of the advanced special talents in respects of information and computation science, electronic information science and technology, 3S technologies（RS,GIS, and GPS）, etc. According to its school-running characteristics, the Science College is to recruit students for the two undergraduate course majors of geographic information system and information & computation science to the whole country in the year of 2003.
