The Foreign Language College is one among the five school-running spots with more than two undergraduate course majors launched of Hunan Province. At present, the college owns 13 professors/deputy professors, 18 lecturers, and 4 foreign teachers, with its 9 members further pursuing studies abroad, and over 80% of its teachers owning master degrees or studying for master degrees. In recent years, the college has undertaken more than 30 items of scientific research tasks at provincial or college level, publishing over 20 academic theses on average each year.  
   At present, the college owns 2 advanced audio-visual rooms, 2 multimedia audio rooms , 6 common audio rooms,1 computer room, 2 systems respectively for English broadcasting launcher and audio frequency launch, and the equipment for teaching, scientific research, and experiments costing over one million yuan. For the moment, collected in the college are over 15000 volumes of books in the languages of English, Chinese, Japanese, French, Russian, etc, and over 1000 boxes(pieces) of audio & video data.  The college’s ordered academic journals home and abroad reach 32 kinds at present.
   To meet the demands by our country’s entry into the WTO, our college actively developed the school-running mode of “Foreign Languages + Speciality Directions”: Set the three directions of “Foreign Languages +Language Literature”, “Foreign Languages +International Trade” and “Foreign Languages +Tourism” for the currently launched language majors of both English and Japanese. After graduation, its students are capable of pursuing interpretation and translation, administration, teaching and other work in the departments of foreign trade and tourism, schools at all levels, and other foreign-related enterprises and institutions.
